Pen to Wappa to Jijitsukon
What is Pen to Wappa to Jijitsukon?
Pen to Wappa to Jijitsukon is a comedy-mystery-romance series debuting in winter 2027. The story follows Eiji Kirisame, a forty-year-old detective accustomed to solving cases through unconventional means, who encounters Tsugumi Kuchinashi, a silent high school girl who witnessed a crime. Rather than speaking, Tsugumi communicates exclusively through drawings on her notepad—crude sketches and doodles that Eiji must decipher to piece together what she saw. What begins as a straightforward investigation takes an unexpected turn when her final page contains a marriage proposal, pulling Eiji into complications far beyond the crime he set out to solve.
The series premieres on January 1, 2027 as a television anime. If you enjoy mysteries with comedic timing and unconventional romance angles, this combination of detective work and romantic subplot offers a fresh premise built around the challenge of communication through visual art. The show balances detective work with character-driven humor, creating space for both mystery and relationship development across its run.
Forty-year-old detective Eiji Kirisame has found maybe the strangest witness of his life: a silent high school girl named Tsugumi Kuchinashi who was at the scene of the crime. Her statements mostly consist of shoddy doodles on a drawing pad, but Eiji is no stranger to piecing together the truth from limited evidence. He'll take every page seriously if it might help solve the case. But why does the last page say... "Will you marry me?! " (Source: Yen Press)
