What is The Guy She Was Interested In Wasn't a Guy At All?
The Guy She Was Interested In Wasn't a Guy At All is a music and romance television series arriving in winter 2027. The story follows Aya, a fashionable and upbeat high schooler who becomes infatuated with a CD shop employee she assumes is male, only to discover her crush is actually Mitsuki—her quiet female classmate who sits right next to her in school. This setup creates an intimate dynamic where Mitsuki is acutely aware of Aya's feelings while keeping her true identity hidden, all while considering whether drawing closer might be worthwhile.
The series blends music and romance as its core genres, with the CD shop setting and the mystery of hidden identities driving the narrative tension. Since the show hasn't released yet, viewers interested in LGBTQ-themed romance with a high school backdrop can add this to their watch list. The January 1, 2027 premiere marks the beginning of the winter season, making it one of the first anime to arrive that quarter.
Fashionable and upbeat high schooler Aya falls head over heels for an employee at a local CD shop. He's got an air of mystery about him, great style, and an impeccable music taste. Little does she know—this supposedly male employee is actually her female classmate Mitsuki! Mitsuki generally keeps to herself, but since her seat is right next to Aya's, she can't help but be extremely aware of the other's crush. Revealing the truth is out of the question for Mitsuki—but perhaps getting closer to Aya wouldn't be so bad... (Source: Yen Press)
