Kaketa Tsuki no Mercedes
What is Kaketa Tsuki no Mercedes?
Kaketa Tsuki no Mercedes is a fantasy action series following Mercedes Grunewald, a vampire child born to a nobleman and his concubine. Knowing her position in the family is precarious, Mercedes takes matters into her own hands by becoming a dungeon crawler while still young, determined to secure her family's survival and find fulfillment in her second life. The series blends adventure and drama as it explores themes of family loyalty and self-determination through the lens of a protagonist who refuses to accept a passive fate.
This TV anime premieres in winter 2027, beginning January first. The story draws from the J-Novel Club light novel adaptation and focuses on Mercedes's unconventional path to strength—training in dungeons from an extraordinarily young age while leveraging her vampire heritage to develop formidable abilities. Her quest becomes personal as much as practical, driven by the memory of her past life's regrets.
Fans of fantasy adventures centered on determined protagonists overcoming systemic disadvantages will find much to appreciate here. The premise combines the appeal of dungeon-crawling progression with emotional character stakes rooted in family drama, offering more narrative depth than straightforward action fare.
Reincarnated as a vampire to a noble father and his shunned concubine, Mercedes Grunewald has always known that one day, her father will choose an heir that isn't her. But what will become of her family when that time comes? Her mother has no skills, their maid is old, and Mercedes is but a small child. How will they survive in the world on their own? Luckily, dungeon crawling is a job that anyone can do—even a child. To provide for her family, Mercedes begins training at the age of a kindergartener, and because she's from a nation of vampires, she fortunately has the potential to become strong. In her past life, she died unfulfilled, but that won't be her fate this time. In the dungeons, she's determined to find something that will make her moon full. (Source: J-Novel Club)
