Fate/Zero Season 2

Fate/Zero Season 2 is the concluding half of the Fourth Holy Grail War, and it is where the series stops being a contest and starts being a reckoning. The remaining Masters and Servants are pushed together by the Church supervisor to deal with a threat none of them can win around, and the alliances that follow do not survive contact with what each participant actually wants.

This half runs 12 episodes and has finished airing. It is a direct continuation rather than a separate entry, so the first season is required viewing.

The draw here is that almost every character is arguing a different position on the same question, which is what victory is actually for, and the series takes those positions seriously enough to break them one at a time. It also functions as a prequel, so viewers who have seen later entries in the franchise will find a great deal of groundwork being laid.
